Life Happens Unveils New Life Insurance Awareness Month Marketing Resources for Insurance Agents, Companies

New Videos, Flyers, Social Media and Celebrity Spokesperson Content Help Insurance Professionals Drive Awareness About the Importance of Life Insurance

Arlington, Va. — To educate Americans about the importance of life insurance, the nonprofit Life Happens will once again bring the insurance industry together this September for Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM). To help the industry plan for the annual campaign, Life Happens today announced its new campaign resources and marketing materials, including:

  • Messaging from LIAM celebrity spokesperson Anthony Anderson on his personal life insurance story and the importance and affordability of life insurance, available through videos, flyers, social-media graphics and other marketing materials
  • New videos, including two “Fast Fact” videos that help break down the basics of life insurance and a series of four videos focused on the “True Cost” of life insurance to help educate the public
  • Three new Real Life Stories, in the form of videos and flyers, featuring the stories of exemplary agent-client service and the positive impact insurance has had in protecting families against financial hardship
  • A wide range of social-media posts and graphics, which are organized by both subject matter and in a calendar format, to help agents leverage a Facebook post and Tweet for each day of LIAM

According to the 2015 Insurance Barometer Study by Life Happens and LIMRA, more than 40 percent of Americans have no life insurance. Standing in the way of many getting the coverage they need is the misconception of cost. According to the survey, 80 percent of Americans overestimate the price of a term life insurance policy. Many of Life Happens’ new LIAM marketing resources help address this misconception and emphasize the need for life insurance.

“With so many Americans uninsured and unaware of just how affordable life insurance is, the need for life insurance education has never been greater,” said Marvin H. Feldman, CLU, ChFC, RFC, President and CEO of Life Happens. “For the past 11 years, Life Insurance Awareness Month has given the industry a platform to inform Americans of the invaluable role life insurance plays in sound financial planning. This year we’ve gone one step further with the development of Life Happens Pro – a platform providing agents who subscribe with the opportunity to personalize our latest digital marketing resources to directly engage with the next generation of insurance buyers.”

This year, the organization enlisted Anthony Anderson, executive producer and star of the hit TV show Black-ish, to serve as the spokesperson for the national LIAM campaign. Anderson will share the story of how his parents taught him the importance of life insurance and planning for the future, regardless of income. While his parents didn’t have much, they did have Mary, ‘The Insurance Lady,’ who visited Anderson’s family on a regular basis to review and update his parents’ life insurance policies, and even sold him his first policy at 18. To help agents in their outreach, Anderson’s story will be available through a series of national public service announcements (PSAs) and awareness-building materials.

Life Happens’ 2015 LIAM resources are available for insurance agents and advisors via the new Life Happens Pro website at www.LifeHappensPro.org. Agents and advisors who subscribe to the platform have the ability to personalize much of the downloadable content, such as flyers and brochures, by adding their contact information and company branding, as well as embed content, such as videos and the planner tool, directly on their websites. Life Happens Pro is currently available for a 30-day free trial period, with subscriptions of $39 per month or $399 per year after that time. Insurance professionals affiliated with Life Happens member associations, such as NAIFA, MDRT, NAILBA, AALU, GAMA and others, qualify for substantial discounts.
